Show Your Work
I want to write novels when I grow up. Novels people will read and enjoy. I am still learning how to write novels and I'm getting better, but I still have much to learn. Unfortunately I am coming of age just as AI has entered the game. But they say I can prove my novels aren‘t AI if I show all my work.
So I will show my work.
As I write and revise my latest novel, I‘ll push it to a public git file. You can read it, criticize it, and fork with it. The modern equivalent of typing pages and taping them to the window of a bookstore.
Don‘t tell anyone, but I am terrified. I am not a coder, and I am learning this as it goes.
Writing: Jericho Butler and the Shard of Phaeton
Jericho Butler was born on Mars, but he wants to see the solar system. On his first mission, Jericho finds a strange object that could take humanity to the stars.
This children‘s novel is set in an alternate universe of the golden age age of science fiction I call The Alterverse. Mars has a harsh but habitable environment, Venus is a lush jungle world, and atomic rockets fill the solar system.
Currently I‘m in the process of finishing the initial draft, though I‘m not sure how it will end. Hopefully I‘ll figure things out when I get to that point.

Re-reading: Science Fiction Hall of Fame: Volume 1
Edited by Robert Silverberg. Published in 1970. I found this at a library sale several years ago, and what a find. It‘s falling apart, but it has notes throughout. Someone clearly loved this book, and it is what inspired my idea for The Alterverse.
